AVEVA and Wonderware engineer recruitment

We recruit AVEVA engineers for systems integrators, solutions providers and manufacturers across North America, on retained, contingency and contract terms. That covers System Platform and InTouch HMI engineers, Historian and PI System engineers, AVEVA MES engineers and the data engineers who connect them to the rest of the business.

Most of the engineers we speak to still call it Wonderware. Schneider Electric bought Invensys, which owned the Wonderware brand, in 2014, merged its industrial software into AVEVA in 2018 and took full ownership of AVEVA in January 2023. Along the way InTouch, System Platform, Historian and Wonderware MES all took the AVEVA name, and AVEVA’s purchase of OSIsoft in 2021 brought the PI System in. A lot of resumes still say Wonderware and a lot of job specs say AVEVA, so we search for both and ask which products and versions the engineer has worked on.

The platform has moved a long way in the last year. AVEVA’s 2026 release replaced DCOM with gRPC in System Platform, added Python and C# for server side methods, let templates and graphics be exported and imported for bulk editing and source control, and lets the System Platform model publish to an MQTT broker for a unified namespace. InTouch HMI 2026 moved towards web first visualization. On the data side, AVEVA announced new PI Server capability at AVEVA World in May 2026, and PI Cloud Connect reaches end of life on the 31st of December 2026. Each of those changes is upgrade and migration work, and the engineers who’ve done it on a live system are the ones being asked for. The data work is growing fastest. In Rockwell’s 2026 State of Smart Manufacturing report, manufacturers said they use only 43% of the data they collect effectively, and closing that gap is the job of the historian, PI and data engineers on an AVEVA team.

AVEVA work splits into specialties that don’t swap easily. An engineer who has built a System Platform galaxy from templates up is a different hire from one who maintains standalone InTouch screens, and a PI System engineer is a different hire again. We ask which one they’ve done, on what size of system, and whether they owned the design or worked inside someone else’s.

We ran a retained search for a Virginia systems integrator with an AVEVA practice that hired five engineers in under ten weeks: two MES engineers, two SCADA engineers and a data engineer (Case 01 on our Results page). On retained AVEVA searches we build a market map of who could do the job, where they sit and what they’re paid, and we’ve mapped AVEVA engineers across the West Coast for a client.

If you’re hiring an AVEVA engineer, book a call and we’ll tell you what the market is paying and how the search should run.

Questions

Is Wonderware the same as AVEVA?

Yes. Wonderware products, including InTouch HMI, System Platform, Historian and Wonderware MES, now carry the AVEVA name after Schneider Electric’s industrial software merged with AVEVA in 2018.

Do you recruit AVEVA PI System engineers?

Yes, permanent and contract, along with Historian and data engineers.

Do you recruit AVEVA contractors?

Yes, on W2 or 1099, for upgrades, migrations and support cover.
