Rockwell control systems engineer recruitment

We recruit Rockwell and Allen-Bradley control systems engineers for systems integrators, machine builders, manufacturers and engineering firms across North America, on retained, contingency, embedded and contract terms. That covers Studio 5000 and ControlLogix programmers, PlantPAx engineers, FactoryTalk View, Optix and Batch engineers, controls engineers on Rockwell motion and the leads who run Rockwell projects. Allen-Bradley is the name on the PLCs and hardware and Rockwell is the company behind them, so job specs and resumes use either name for the same work, and we search for both.

Rockwell is the platform we’re asked for most, which isn’t a surprise. North America made up about 63% of Rockwell’s $8.3 billion in sales in its 2025 financial year and Rockwell is widely reported as the largest PLC supplier there. That makes the pool big and the resumes alike. Plenty of engineers have supported a PLC. Fewer have written the code from scratch, designed the panel, commissioned the system and taken the call when it faulted. Rockwell’s own David Enlow put the time it takes to become an experienced automation professional at five years or more, and the engineers with that depth are the ones every integrator and plant is after. That’s the difference we screen for, and it’s why we send 1.2 resumes for every first interview our clients run, against an industry norm of around 2:1.

There’s a lot of migration work keeping Rockwell engineers busy. RSLogix 5 Standard stopped being sold on the 31st of December 2025, the last SLC 500 controllers were discontinued in March 2024 and Rockwell’s path for both is ControlLogix or CompactLogix on Studio 5000. Studio 5000 v38 added the ControlLogix 5590, launched in October 2025, and dropped RSLinx Classic. PlantPAx 5 moved its process instructions into controller firmware, and version 5.50 runs on the 5590 with integrated safety. Plants are also adding FactoryTalk Optix alongside FactoryTalk View. Each of those is a project, and each one needs engineers who’ve done it before.

PlantPAx and FactoryTalk Batch are the narrower end of the pool. Batch engineers in particular get asked for on pharma and food sites, often on contract with a fixed end date, and we keep contractors on those platforms ready for project award.

Rockwell’s own partner program adds pressure on integrators. Rockwell tiers its system integrators from Bronze to Platinum partly on how many credentialed people they hold in each capability, from Control and Visualization through to PlantPAx and Batch, so losing a credentialed engineer can cost a firm more than the work they were doing.

Two of our case studies are Rockwell searches. A small North Carolina integrator hired four engineers through us who own a project end to end, from MCC and panel design through Rockwell PLC and HMI code and SCADA to commissioning (Case 03 on our Results page). A custom machine builder in Massachusetts hired a controls engineer with Rockwell PLC, panel design and servo and stepper motion 21 days after the brief (Case 04).

If you’re hiring a Rockwell control systems engineer, book a call and we’ll tell you what the market is paying for the level you need.

Questions

Is Allen-Bradley part of Rockwell?

Yes. Allen-Bradley is Rockwell Automation’s brand for its PLCs and hardware, including ControlLogix and CompactLogix. The software is sold under Rockwell’s Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk names.

What Rockwell migrations are driving demand?

PLC-5 and SLC 500 moves to ControlLogix and CompactLogix, PlantPAx upgrades to version 5, the move to the ControlLogix 5590 and HMI work on FactoryTalk View and Optix.

Do you recruit FactoryTalk Batch and PlantPAx engineers?

Yes, permanent and contract.

Do you recruit Rockwell and Allen-Bradley contractors?

Yes, on W2 or 1099, from a single engineer for a migration to a team for a capital project.
